A heart-lifting story of humanity amid the carnage of bloody war, and based on a remarkable true incident from World War One.

The first Christmas of the war saw French, Scottish and German soldiers stop the slaughter to exchange small gifts, show off family photographs, share food and play the strangest football match ever.

It's the sort of story, if you didn't know it was true, you'd dismiss as unbelievable. But writer-director Carion and his relatively unknown cast give great depth and insight to a fine film.
