Strong cast makes The Family Stone worth seeing

The Family Stone

Director: Thomas Bezucha

Cast: Claire Danes, Diane Keaton, Dermot Mulroney, Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel McAdams, Craig T. Nelson

We've been seeing a lot of similar family-based films of late, all with much the same theme of the potential bride/bridegroom being introduced to his/her family.

Some have been good, some bad and some, like this one, at best indifferent. One thing this has going for it is a strong cast, but otherwise we've been here before.

The plot revolves around the 'nasty' girlfriend meeting her 'unfriendly' future in-laws and bringing along her sister for support; needless to add: things go from bad to worse.

It's passable as a film, but some originality would have helped.

Star Rating: 3/5
