Balloon tributes mark Lennon death anniversary

Tributes to murdered music icon John Lennon will be attached to balloons and released today as his birth city marks the 25th anniversary of his death.

More than 1,000 messages to the ex-Beatle, each written on card and attached to a white balloon, will be released from Liverpool’s Albert Dock at midday.
