Davis contemporises Vietnam with engrossing documentary

The Vietnam War is the subject of Hearts and Minds (Metrodome, €24.99), the controversial Oscar winner by Peter Davis.

This powerful film blew away the myth about why America was in Vietnam, and why ultimately it became the graveyard for America’s youth and military/political policy.

Most of the footage is by Davis’ crew, adding some dramatic clips, such as the shooting of a Viet Cong prisoner, to dramatically make his points. With an audio commentary and an interview with Davis, Hearts and Minds is as on message now, with US involvement in Iraq, as it was back in the 1970s.
