Sheree fights off rodents, reptiles and insects to win food
Ex-Emmerdale actress Sheree Murphy fought off rats, snakes and maggots to win much-needed food for her camp mates in I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!
The star, who is married to footballer Harry Kewell, won five stars after battling beasts in the bush in her solo challenge, Rocky Horror, last night.
Using different parts of her body, Murphy first had to catch a star from above while being submerged in horrible gunk.
After failing that task, she went on to rummage among rhino beetles and snakes but could not grasp the two stars on offer.
Pulling out her hands she screamed: “Ah, get them off, get them off, get them off” before a medic came and helped wipe her clean.
Next, slipping off her shoes and socks, Murphy did manage to get two stars by placing her feet in boxes filled with nipping ants and rats.
Then, she was forced to put her head in a tank of maggots – managing to get one star by effectively bobbing for apples.
The other two stars came after she braved a medley of spiders to poke her head through a tiny hole.
Finally, Murphy hauled herself into a muddy pit but ran out screaming when she saw it was full of baby crocodiles.
Ant and Dec called this final task the “tank of ultimate dread” and Murphy branded the pair “dirty liars” after they denied it was full of snappy friends.
She said: “I think I could have handled the big fat eels but not those baby crocs!”
Remembering her team mates she said: “I am doing it for the others. We are so hungry, I could cry.”
And cry she did, before sending a big hello home to her husband.
Earlier, Cannon and Ball joined the ITV show.
Tommy Cannon, 67, and Bobby Ball, 61, have been together for 40 years and had their own prime time TV show in the 1980s.
If the born-again Christians make it to the final they will be in trouble – it clashes with the first day of their panto rehearsals in Hull.
Also, Carol Thatcher and Jilly Goolden proved they were both iron ladies by eating kangaroo testicles and penis to win eight meals.
They faced some of the most horrific jungle food ever seen on the show.
But with a stiff upper lip, they battled through the grub to claim eight out of nine stars, double the record for the series so far.
Their first course was green ants and cheese fruit, also known as vomit fruit. Next up was live cockroaches and grasshoppers and, on course three, Jilly chose worms leaving Carol to the witchetty grub.
After a few more platters, the queasy couple – now blindfolded – were served their final dinner of the day.
Jilly guessed the food was kangaroo testicles but Carol thought the kangaroo penis was a mouse.
Before removing their blindfolds, Carol selected the testicles and Jilly the penis.
Carol was first and having ‘popped’ the testicles out of their fur pouch, she chewed and crunched her way through it.
A determined Jilly attempted a bite only to be put off by the smell and the toughness.
She couldn’t bite through, so Dec called on the medic to cut the portion she would be required to eat.
Popping it into her mouth, Jilly alternated between chewing and gagging.
Finally, with a glug of water, she raised her glass to the boys saying ‘cheers - task complete’ and requested a toothpick: “I don’t think I can live with kangaroo penis in my teeth all day.
“It was a spindly, spiky kangaroo penis, more dried. It was stiff and hard and tasted like vinegar ... monotone in the flavour stakes.”
:: Former Neighbours star Kimberley has threatened to quit the show.
The Australian, sick of the diet of rice and beans, said: “When seven days is up I’m out of here.”
