Angelina Jolie visits quake-ravaged Pakistan

Actress Angelina Jolie today visited earthquake-ravaged northern Pakistan, the UN refugee agency official said.

Jolie, who is a goodwill ambassador for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, went to a village in a remote valley, flying aboard a helicopter that took food, blankets and plastic sheets to improve shelters, said UNHCR spokeswoman Vivian Tan.

She said that Jolie, who arrived in Pakistan today, also visited the hard-hit town of Balakot and was expected to take part in a news conference tomorrow in the capital, Islamabad.

Tan said she did not know whether actor Brad Pitt, who has been sporadically spotted and photographed with Jolie for months, was with her. The couple met with staff on Tuesday at the UNHCR headquarters in Geneva.
