Green Day, Destiny's Child big winners at awards

The American Music Awards spread things around, with country star Tim McGraw, alternative rockers Green Day, soul stars Destiny’s Child and hip-hop chart toppers Black Eyed Peas each winning two awards.

Mariah Carey, in the midst of a career comeback, had gone into last night’s competition the heavy favourite with four nominations, but the pop diva took home only one award, for favourite female artist in the soul-R&B category.
