Belgian songwriter wins Madonna plagiarism case
A little-known Belgian songwriter won a plagiarism case against Madonna today, leading a local court to ban the megastar’s song Frozen from sale or broadcast in the country.
“The judge has ruled Madonna must withdraw from sales all remaining discs, and orders that TV and radio can no longer play Frozen,” property rights lawyer Victor-Vincent Dehin told VRT television.
Dehin represented the songwriter Salvatore Acquaviva.
No damages were set.
Acquaviva said Frozen resembled the song he wrote Ma vie fout le camp.
Madonna can appeal the ruling.
