Gary Barlow refused to become embroiled in a war of words with his former Take That bandmate Robbie Williams, because he knew he couldn't compete with the solo star.

After Williams quit the chart-topping British boyband in 1995, he publicly attacked Barlow for the way he was treated when he was a member of the group.
