Funnyman Vic Reeves and his model wife Nancy Sorrell have announced they are having twins, and joked about the crazy names they might be called.

The Virgin Radio presenter and his wife announced the news live on his show, and went on to joke about possible names for the babies.

Vic said: “We are pleased to announce that we are going to have babies,” with his wife answering: “Yes, it’s true, we are.”

Vic continued: “And we are going to call them Simon and Garfunkel, with Nancy quipping: “No, Bill and Ben!” to which her husband replied: “Batman and Robin!”

The news was announced live on air by the couple on the comedian’s Big Night In radio show, and the pair were inundated with emails from listeners.

Vic, 46, said: “We are pleased to announce we are having babies..two of them to be exact.”

Nancy, 30, squealed: “Twins!”

Shooting stars comic Vic is already a father of two.

He has a daughter Alice, 12, and a son Louis, eight, by his former wife Sarah.

He grew up in Darlington, Co Durham, and after trying his hand as a pig farmer and factory inspector, his love of Monty Python was so overwhelming that he decided to up sticks and move to London to hone his surreal stand-up act and tour the alternative comedy circuit.

He created his stage name Vic Reeves from his favourite singers Vic Damone and Jim Reeves.

His first stage show was in south London’s Goldsmith’s Tavern, where a regular in the audience joined Vic on stage for an impromptu act one night and ended up becoming a regular feature.

The regular was Bob Mortimer, who stayed with the act as it was snapped up by the bosses of television comedy.

When a tweed-suited Vic guest-presented a couple of shows radio bosses loved it so much they asked him to join them for a twice weekly Big Night In.

Of his show Vic Reeves said: “I love radio, it means people have to use their imagination a bit more, and it gives me the excuse to come up with all kinds of nonsense and play some great music.”

His Big Night In is on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7pm.
