Carey and Michael to duet

Pop superstars Mariah Carey and George Michael are in talks to record a duet together.

The singers met backstage at the London Live 8 gig in July and Carey was delighted when Michael asked her to collaborate with him.

A music industry source says: "This is a very big deal. George doesn't do many duets, they're usually with big legends like Elton John and Aretha Franklin, but he loves Mariah's work."

Michael's last high-profile duet, As, with Mary J Blige was a huge hit in 1999.
