Carey and Murphy 'just friends'

Mariah Carey has rubbished rumours she is romancing actor Eddie Murphy - she insists they are just good friends.

The Butterfly singer and her Beverly Hills Cop buddy Murphy were linked after they were spotted holding hands during the MTV Music Video Awards in Miami, Florida, last month.

But Carey claims she has had no contact with Murphy since the showbusiness extravaganza.

She says: "We were hanging out. I'm a huge Eddie Murphy fan. Maybe people could just see that, and that's why they made a big drama.

"But there is nothing going on. That's the last time I saw him."
