U2 and Oasis nominated as world's best act in Q Awards

Oasis have bagged five nominations for this year’s Q Awards.

Oasis have bagged five nominations for this year’s Q Awards.

The band are up for Best Act In The World Today - nine years after they first won it - along with Irish supergroup U2.

They are also nominated for Best Live Act, Best Album, Best Video and Best Track.

Their latest album Don’t Believe The Truth was heralded by critics as a return to form.

Coldplay have four nominations, including Best Album for X&Y.

If they win, it will be third time in a row – they scooped the award for Parachutes in 2000 and A Rush Of Blood To The Head in 2002.

Newcomer James Blunt is up for three awards – Best New Act, Best Album for Back To Bedlam and Best Single for the chart-topping You’re Beautiful.

The Q Awards take place on October 10 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
