How we love our dear Miss Jane Austen … all those wonderful characters, all those balls and sly manipulation, all that romance.

Here director Wright brings us one of the best ever adaptations of the tale of Elizabeth Bennet – quite brilliantly, gloriously played by Knightley – and the haughty Mr Darcy – equally brilliantly portrayed by MacFayden.

It is a film full of colour and bristling with emotion, packed with authenticity and performed stunningly by a perfect cast.

Sutherland, as Elizabeth’s father, is a positive delight.

It is a smoothly flowing production with not an imperfection.
