Franz Ferdinand chasing Xmas top spot
Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand have set their sights on landing the coveted Christmas number one spot on the UK singles chart later this year.
A single released in November would put them in competition with Cliff Richard, traditionally a strong favourite for the festive crown, who is bringing out a collaboration with operatic boyband G4.
Frontman Alex Kapranos says: "It would be great to get the Christmas number one. I suppose we could even write something special for Christmas. I think Santa Loves Franz Ferdinand sounds pretty good."
Bassist Bob Hardy adds: "We could follow it up with The Easter Bunny And Franz.
