Small Island eyes up big stars

Hollywood stars Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet and Halle Berry are favourites to star in the movie adaptation of hit novel Small Island.

Filming of Andrea Levy's award-winning book will start in 2006 and Ruby Films co-director Alison Owen is desperate to sign the actresses soon.

She says: "It is early days with regards to casting but I think Halle would be perfect. And I would really like to see either Cate or Kate in the role of Queenie."
