A good opening to this British gangster film fails to be sustained, but while it's good it's very good. Pity it didn't last the distance.

The story is set in Sunny Spain in the l980s and involves the low-life types who ply their dodgy trade in the Costa Del Sol, until ambition is over-reached and the cops come calling.

The playing is, though, excellent: all flash and swagger from Dyer and Hassan, though as the scheming dame Chapman isn't really up to it.

The idea runs out of original thought too early, but until then: Six out of ten.
