Lennon phone bill worth thousands

A telephone bill belonging to John Lennon is set to fetch a staggering $360,000 (€286,000) at auction this month - because the late Beatle penned the lyrics to I'm Only Sleeping on it.

The document, a final demand from the General Post Office for twelve pounds and three shillings in pre-decimal British currency, was sent to Lennon in 1966 when he was working on The Beatles' masterpiece Revolver.

A spokeswoman for Christie's auction house in London says: "There has been a lot of interest in the phone bill. Beatles memorabilia is always a favourite."
