Coldplay to close world tour in Belfast

Coldplay are to end their Twisted Logic world tour this year in Belfast’s Odyssey arena, it emerged today.

Earlier this year, Coldplay played Marlay Park in Dublin in one of the first dates of the tour.

They are currently performing in the United States where the band scored a number one success with their latest chartbusting album, X & Y.

At the same time, X & Y was also top of the charts in Britain, making them the first band since the Beatles to have simultaneous number ones on both sides of the Atlantic.

They also received rave reviews for their performance at the Glastonbury Festival and performed at the Live 8 concert in Hyde Park.

X & Y earned a Mercury Prize nomination.

They face competition for the prestigious prize from the Kaiser Chiefs, KT Tunstall, Bloc Party, Antony and the Johnsons, The Go! Team, Hard-Fi, The Magic Numbers, Maximo Park, MIA, Polar Bear and Seth Lakeman.

Tickets for the Belfast concert on December 21 will go on sale on September 9.
