Doherty to show home movies online
Troubled rocker Pete Doherty plans to counter the bad press he's been receiving of late, by posting intimate films of himself in action on the internet.
The Babyshambles frontman, who is the target of much media attention in his native Britain thanks to his ongoing battle with hard drugs and his on/off relationship with supermodel Kate Moss, plans to charge fans a nominal fee to enter the appropriate section of his website.
Doherty has created the concept with his friend and literary agent Paul Roundhill, and followers will be able to view home movie-style footage of the singer performing, relaxing and talking with friends.
Roundhill explained: "When I first met Peter I felt he had a multi-media potential and he would break the mould, dismantling the barriers between the band and the audience.
"This site is making a statement. It's a way for Peter to be in control of all different aspects of his work."
