Minogue hopes to perform at Commonwealth Games

Pop superstar Kylie Minogue is hoping she'll be well enough to perform at the Commonwealth Games in her native Melbourne, Australia, next year, after she underwent breast cancer surgery in May.

The Spinning Around singer plans to make the high-profile gig her last peformance before she retreats from public life to raise a family with her French actor boyfriend Olivier Martinez, writes British newspaper The Sun.

Government minister Justin Madden says: "We would love Kylie to be part of the Games. If she was there it would be great."

Last week, organisers of Minogue's Showgirl tour denied reports the singer will perform the concerts she was forced to postpone when her illness was announced in early 2006.
