Craig David heads peace concert line-up

Singer Craig David is to headline a peace concert in Sharm el-Sheikh in memory of the victims who died in last month’s bombings.

The British star has flown out to Egypt at the personal invitation of the country’s president, Hosni Mubarak.

The concert, which features mainly Egyptian artists, takes place in the holiday resort tomorrow.

David said: “It’s an incredible honour to be performing at this concert.

“The show has an unbelievable global significance. It’s not so much about who’s performing but rather about a wide mix of cultures joining together and proving that solidarity and peace is the way to combat the evil intentions of terrorism.”

The July 23 blasts claimed 64 lives.

The peace concert will be a tribute to the victims and a sign that the tourist resort will not be cowed by terrorism.

A spokesman for David said: “Craig was personally invited by the Egyptian president, Hosni Mubarak, as both a representative of global popular music and as an inspirational figurehead.”
