A fine multi-plot ensemble film set over two Los Angeles days and involving inter-related characters, all with their individual and collective hang-ups, weaknesses and strengths … and all battling the world around them.

The acting is powerful, the directing strongly determined and it's good to see Bullock, one of Hollywood's most charming actresses, continuing her move away from lightweight comedies and weak dramas into more substantial films ... like this.
