Stereophonics legal action nears conclusion

Former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable is close to reaching a financial settlement with his former bandmates following his 2003 sacking.

Frontman Kelly Jones and bassist Richard Jones parted company with their childhood friend, citing "commitment" and "attitude issues" - and the two camps quickly descended into a war of words.

Sources suggest Cable could be about to receive a payment in the region of £1m (£1.44m) - but due to legal restraints he remains tight-lipped over the details of the deal.

He says: "We've finally come to some sort of arrangement, but it's still all in the hands of the lawyers at the moment. There's a lot of paperwork to go through, so I can't really say anymore."

Cable is moving on from the Stereophonics musically too - he's in the midst of forming his own rock band with a far heavier approach than the Dakota hitmakers.
