Jackson 'torn apart' by trial
Michael Jackson's child molestation trial left him "torn apart", claims his brother Jermaine.
Jackson was expected to join Jermaine and sisters Janet and LaToya in Berlin, Germany on Friday to celebrate their father's 76th birthday.
But the Thriller star stayed away, posting a message on his website apologising to fans - and Jermaine insists his brother needs to rest following the physical and mental exertion of the 14-week trial, during which his weight reportedly dropped to just 43 kilograms (94 pounds).
He says: "His case tore him apart mentally. He's very strong mentally, but he needs his rest right now."
Jackson has not been seen in public since he was found not guilty of all child molestation charges against him last month.
