Clannad singer Moya to perform for Pope
Irish singer Moya Brennan is to sing for Pope Benedict XVI as part of World Youth Day in Cologne in Germany, it was confirmed.
The Clannad singer and solo artist will perform to around a million young people at an evening prayer vigil on Saturday, August 20.
The Donegal singer, who is a sister of the famed international singer Enya, will sing her song "Bright Star" for the massive audience.
Moya, who also performed at a previous youth event in Rome, is due to perform as "The Flame of Bethlehem" arrives in Cologne on the Saturday evening.
The announcement comes after the Brennan family, which includes international superstar Enya, Moya and Clannad, recently lined out for the Earagail Arts Festival in their home county of Donegal.
The festival saw the full line-up of traditional music band Clannad – whose album sales run into millions – in their first live performance in around 15 years.
Moya and her band are also due to headline the Beo Concert Series at the National Concert Hall in Dublin in August.
