Ali G accused of attacking photographer
Ali G star Sacha Baron Cohen has been accused of grabbing a photographer by the throat at the Wedding Crashers premiere on Wednesday night.
According to accounts in both the New York Daily News and New York Times, 34-year-old Cohen lashed out at Richard Corkery as he tried to take a snapshot of the comedian and his actress fiancee Isla Fisher - a co-star in the movie - at an after-party following the New York
screening of the film.
Eyewitnesses say the British funnyman reached out and grasped Corkery by the throat, before warning the photographer not to take a picture without asking permission.
Corkery, who is deciding whether to file a criminal complaint against Cohen, says: "It was shocking. You just don't expect that someone would grab your throat."
But Cohen's publicist, Matt Labov, has hit out at the claims, insisting that the alleged attack never occurred. He claims Cohen was merely trying to prevent Corkery from crashing what he thought was a private area of the party to take his picture.
The representative states: "(Cohen) did not put a hand on Dick. He put his hand in front of the camera but did not touch him."
