Top acts lined up for Beamish fest

Tickets for the grand finale to a summer of fantastic entertainment — the Beamish Experience Festival — have gone on sale today.

Two big headline acts will take to the stage during the three-day music festival, held in association with the Evening Echo, which runs from September 23 and 25.

Irish band HAL — who are tipped to be the next big thing in the music industry — and acclaimed Scottish singer KT Tunstall will wow crowds at the event.

Organisers are also promising free entertainment in a variety of pubs across Cork city during the three-day festival, which is now in its fourth year.

Hal will take to the stage at The Savoy on the opening night of Friday, September 23.

News of the group’s Cork gig comes only days after their hugely successful performance at Oxegen last weekend.

Tickets for their Beamish Experience concert cost 19.50 including booking fee and are available from today at Ticketmaster outlets nationwide, www.ticketmaster.ie and from Plud’d Records, Washington St and from tomorrow at the Bodega on Cornmarket Street. Doors open on the night at 9.30pm. Over 18s only.

Meanwhile, KT Tunstall will thrill the Cork audience on the closing night of the festival at Cork Opera House on September 25 at 8pm.

The songwriter has recently released her first album, Eye To The Telescope.

Tickets are on sale from Cork Opera House Box Office from today, priced 22.50 and 25. To book contact (021) 4270022.

Organisers are very excited about this year’s festival. Beamish Stout Brand Manager, Ruth Norton said: “The Beamish Experience offers a tantalising combination of top-quality headline acts and an exciting programme of free in-pub entertainment.

“We hope that everybody thoroughly enjoys the acts, as well as a pint or two of Beamish Stout over the course of the festival weekend.

“As always, we would like to thank the publicans of Cork for their assistance and support for the Beamish Experience and we look forward to working with them throughout the festival.”
