BBC apologises for Cash gaffe

The BBC was forced to apologise after Wimbledon commentator Pat Cash accidentally made a comment on air about former champion Lleyton Hewitt’s soap star fiancee being “up the duff”.

The pundit made the remark live on BBC Interactive as the cameras focused on Home and Away actress Rebecca Cartwright during Hewitt’s second round match, thinking his microphone was off.

A BBC spokeswoman said: “We would like to apologise on behalf of Pat Cash because we do feel that the term was inappropriate.”
