Big-headed Derek has confidently predicted that the public will vote Roberto out of the Big Brother house this week.
The Tory speechwriter is odds-on favourite with the bookmakers to go on Friday after being nominated yesterday by his fellow housemates, along with the Italian.
But Derek strongly believes that Roberto will get the boot, although he reaffirmed his wish to leave the house.
He told the Diary Room: “I remain confident that going head to head with Roberto would probably mean I would have to stay here after Friday.
“That is my honest estimation. Call it big headed if you like.”
He praised his rival, though, and said that Roberto deserved to stay.
“Roberto is a better man than me. It’s important to give way to others when you genuinely believe they are a better person, more decent than oneself.
“As each week has passed this feeling of enormous respect has grown while my feelings for others has seriously diminished.”
Meanwhile, teacher Roberto confessed he wasn’t surprised that he was nominated.
“I didn’t make myself popular in the first place, maybe I should have been more diplomatic and kept a low profile,” he told the Diary Room.
“And I’m still paying the consequences for mistakes I made in the past.”
He quickly returned to his favourite theme of food as he launched a broadside against his housemates.
He said: “The main disease in the House is selfishness, greed and a lot of egocentric people just thinking about themselves.
“I was trying to work for everyone’s benefit, and if someone just sits around all day and want things on a silver plate then I’ll call them lazy ... this is not The Hilton, and the level of selfishness is beyond belief.”
When the nominations were announced, Maxwell laughed: “It’s the golden oldies up for eviction.”
Derek got six votes while Roberto got four.
Only Craig and Saskia received no nominations this week.
Derek has now received a total of 17 nominations since the show started – more than any other housemate this series.
Craig described him as “arrogant” whle Maxwell branded him “smug”.
Vanessa said: “He’s a sly snake. He’s a snob ... he looks at you as if you’re a piece of trailer trash.”
Ladbrokes made Derek 2/7 favourite to be evicted.
Spokesman Warren Lush said: “Derek is odds-on to swap the bitching and backbiting of the Big Brother house for that of the Tory Party come the start of next week.
“Derek says he wants to go, and we make him hot favourite for the chop.
“We’ve seen in the past, however, that the public like to prolong the misery of a housemate who says that they want out.”
Makosi nominated Anthony after he was overheard saying he only kissed her to keep viewers entertained – despite his best efforts to make up with her today.
“He kissed me before I kissed him and then told Maxwell he didn’t fancy me, he just did it for the cameras. It made me feel horrible, betrayed, cheap, disgusted,” she fumed.
The eviction will take place live on Channel 4 this Friday.
