His cast of quality performers makes it a film that never loses its grip on our interest and what additionally maintains our interest is the clever use of the buildings and their landscape.

Often achieved by the merest glimpse of a house, a street viewed as a reflection in a shop window, trees lined along an avenue.

Everywhere there is a scene briefly offered yet monumentally significant to the thrust of the story of friendship.
