The Cat King (Curry) is pleased at schoolgirl (Hathaway) for rescuing his son from death. Sometimes, though, thanks can overwhelm and she seeks help from the mysterious Barron (Elwes).

There's kidnapping and romance in this pleasingly off-beat animated film that is full of fun, enough to delight even the most jaded faces; even if they aren't moggie lovers (if such a strange group of humans exists!)

What might have helped this otherwise fine Japanese film would have been something for the adults since it's aimed squarely at the kiddies.
