Kylie 'celebrating birthday with family'

Pop diva Kylie Minogue was spending her 37th birthday today with family and friends in her home town Melbourne, where she is convalescing after cancer surgery, her management company said.

The London-based singer, who had surgery to remove a breast tumour on May 20, is having a low-key celebration, a Terry Blamey Management spokeswoman said.

“Kylie is spending the day with family and friends in Melbourne,” the spokeswoman said.

Reporters and photographers stationed outside Minogue’s parents’ house, where she is staying, reported that a gift was delivered to the home and well wishers also dropped off two birthday cards.

A cake in a box was also delivered while another well wisher erected a banner at the entrance to the street which read “Happy Birthday Kylie, Love Ronan.”

Minogue was in Melbourne to perform her Showgirl tour when the cancer was diagnosed days before the surgery. The Australian and Asian legs of her tour have been postponed indefinitely.
