Nesbitt adds cash to United fund

Irish actor James Nesbitt has become the latest celebrity Manchester United fan to donate £10,000 (€14,600) to Shareholders United’s fighting fund.

The sum matches a similar donation from Doctor Who star Christopher Eccleston, with the cash going towards a specially created investment trust.

Although the trust idea was originally raised in an effort to keep the Old Trafford club out of Malcolm Glazer’s hands, with the American firmly in control having raised his stake to 74.81% the aim now is to hit the 10% mark to prevent a compulsory total buyout.
