Franz Ferdinand to upset female fans

Franz Ferdinand are ditching their euphoric dance tunes in favour of writing heart-breaking songs destined to make girls cry.

The Scottish band are currently in the midst of recording the eagerly awaited follow-up to their award-winning eponymous 2004 debut, and they've chosen to explore new sounds instead of recreating their tried-and-tested formula.

However, singer Alex Kapranos has assured worried fans they'll still be able to bop to the beats.

He says: "The character of this new record is beginning to take form. I was joking with a friend about how if the last record was music for girls to dance to, this is probably music for girls to cry to - at least for them to leak a little tear to while they're dancing."
