A strong story with excellent performing
The Keys of the House
Gianni Amelio
Andrea Rossi, Charlotte Rampling, Kim Rossi Stuart
A fine, well-made emotional rollercoaster - though one which certainly doesn't get out of hand - in which the central character (Stuart) has to come to terms with his troubles.
Back then he and his girlfriend had a baby. She died in delivery and the boy was born handicapped. Entering his 'new' life as a father for the second time, he rediscovers his first son, 15 years later; and with embarrassing and unhappy results.
It's a strong story of past regrets for things done and not done and of coming to terms and it is vastly helped by excellent all-round playing.
