25,000 expected at Electric Picnic

Around 25,000 partygoers are expected to descend on a Co Laois estate for the second year of the Electric Picnic, it emerged tonight.

The boutique festival at Stradbally is to return as a two-day party with some of the top names in music industry alongside the best in comedy.

The line-up includes Fatboy Slim, Flaming Lips, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Mercury Rev and De La Soul, with veteran acts such as Stereo MCs, Kraftwerk, Human League also set for the stage.

The quirky line-up also sees Glastonbury regulars Lost Vagueness debut in Ireland.

Revellers will be treated to two massive tents swarming with can-can dancers as part of a 1950’s cocktail burlesque cabaret, while Des Bishop and Tommy Tiernan will host the comedy club stage with popular comedians from home and abroad.

The final list of acts has yet to be confirmed but five stages, bars, food stalls, and chill-out areas will be set up to help thousands of revellers see out the summer.

Camping will be restricted to 15,000 on September 3 and 4 in the grounds of Stradbally Hall Estate.

Tickets are priced at €62.50 for a one-day ticket, €105 for two days and €135 for two days and camping.
