Jamelia confirms pregnancy

Pop star Jamelia is expecting a baby, it was revealed today.

The 24-year-old singer is three months pregnant by Gillingham footballer Darren Byfield. A spokesman for the star said: “Jamelia and Darren’s first baby is due in October. They are ecstatically happy.”

The couple began dating last year and an engagement announcement is said to be on the cards.

Jamelia already has a four-year-old daughter, Teja, from a previous relationship.

The R&B star burst onto the music scene aged 18 but put her career on hold when Teja was born in 2001.

After a two-year break she returned to the charts in 2003 with hit single Superstar and her career has gone from strength to strength.

She was recently nominated for an Ivor Novello award for her song Thank You.
