Little Britain competes for double honours
The British Academy Television Awards were taking place today – with Little Britain up for a double award.
The BBC comedy is nominated for Comedy Performance and Comedy Series for its humorous sketches on British life.
Ten other programmes are also up for two categories, including Channel 4’s Shameless and ITV reality show I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here.
The jungle show faces competition from BBC 1’s Strictly Come Dancing in the entertainment programme category.
Dramas Not Only But Always, Sex Traffic, The Long Firm, Dirty Filthy Love and Hawking also have two nominations.
Graham Norton is to present this year’s TV Baftas, which split its TV and film awards ceremonies in 1998.
EastEnders was snubbed for the second year in a row – receiving no nominations.
But their biggest rivals – and last year’s winners – Coronation Street, are short-listed in the Continuing Drama category.
Those expected to attend include Little Britain creators Matt Lucas and David Walliams, Shameless star Anne-Marie Duff, comedian and teatime TV host Paul O’Grady, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and outgoing EastEnders actress Michelle Ryan.
The ceremony was taking place at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and being broadcast “as live” on BBC1.
