Cannes shuns Madonna

Pop legend Madonna's hopes of securing a screening at the Cannes Film Festival next month have been dashed after organisers snubbed her documentary movie.

The untitled film, which the Material Girl hoped would premiere at the prestigious event, was described as "interesting" by a selection panel, but they judged the overall quality of the project failed to meet the festival's notoriously high standards.
