BBC releases classic boxsets

Two remarkable four disc boxsets are now available from the BBC. The Ascent of Man and Civilisation heralded a golden age in television.

Sir Kenneth Clarke’s Civilisation examines some of the most profound changes in the Western world, from Roman times to the 20th century, exploring outstanding examples in everything from philosophy to science, engineering to music.

The Ascent of Man in somewhat similar vein delved back further, looking at mankind’s advances from primitive times onwards. Dr Jacob Bronowski’s focussed on the impact of changes in areas such as the industrial revolution, atomic physics, etc.

Also included is an interview with Sir David Attenborough.
