An episode of cult cartoon hit The Simpsons has been postponed out of respect for Pope John Paul II.

Producers of the popular series pulled a show called The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost, intended to be broadcast in America yesterday, in case of offending Catholics in the aftermath of the pontiff's death.

The episode features Irish actor Liam Neeson as a priest.
