Anna Nicole cancels seal-clubbing Newfoundland trip

Anna Nicole Smith has cancelled a trip to Newfoundland, where she was to protest seal clubbing, because she has been told she might get shot.

The model and reality TV star was planning to join animal activists People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) on the mission to Newfoundland, but was advised to stay well away from violent seal hunters, who shoot protestors on sight.

She says: "The head of PETA called and said it wouldn't be safe - people are pointing guns."

PETA spokesman Michael McGraw adds: "For several weeks Anna Nicole has expressed an interest in visiting the ice flows in Newfoundland and draw world attention to the plight of these animals. But we were not able to find a way to do this safely."
