Australian actress Radha Mitchell thought it was a hoax when she received a call from legendary director Woody Allen asking her to star in Melina and Melina - until she received the script.

She was on her way home from Los Angeles airport when her mobile phone rang and she was shocked to hear somebody claiming to be Allen offering her a part.

"I thought it was my mum calling to check that I had landed safely, but it was Woody Allen ringing to see if I wanted to be in his movie," she said.

"I wasn't sure if it was actually him or not, because it didn't sound like him and I wasn't expecting him to call. Then I got the script and realised it was true."
