Geldof returns to Africa

Bob Geldof is retuning to Africa 20 years after the Live Aid extravaganza which he organised to alleviate famine and poverty in Ethiopia.

The charismatic Irish rocker will be touring the country for a series of BBC documentaries focusing on Africa to air on TV over the summer.

The TV awareness drive has been inspired by British Prime Minister Tony Blair's Commission For Africa campaign - which seeks to solve the continent's economic crisis - and BBC bosses hope their shows will encourage view ers to take a more active role in saving lives.

However, the purpose of Geldof's documentary isn't for him to plead for donations like he did in 1985, but to awaken people to the problems crippling Africa.
