Goodrem cries on TV over negative press

Australian singer Delta Goodrem broke down in tears on TV yesterday as she told of the negative press she receives in Britain.

The Born To Try beauty, 19, wept after telling the host of Australian show A Current Affair how she had been portrayed as a homewrecker for dating Brian McFadden so soon after he announced his split from TV presenter wife Kerry Katona.

Former Westlife hunk McFadden and Katona parted ways in September, only weeks before Goodrem ended her 10-month relationship with tennis ace Mark Philippoussis.

Despite McFadden and Goodrem's insistence their romance didn't begin until December, many fans of Katona have been abusive to Goodrem.

After Goodrem grew teary-eyed, McFadden leapt to her defence, saying: "When Kerry speaks about Delta, she's given her blessing for our relationship and now she's got her own relationship (with childhood friend Dave Cunningham) and she's moved on and she's happy.

"She knows Delta had nothing to do with our split. We'd had problems for years. I want to set the record straight. Delta's a good girl and that's why I love her."
