REM's emotional Peel tribute

Rockers REM paid an emotional tribute to late British DJ John Peel last Friday by playing a cover of his favourite track Teenage Kicks at their first concert in Belfast.

The band's frontman Michael Stipe told the crowd at 9,500 Odyssey Arena he didn't know all the words to the song by Peel's proteges The Undertones, but felt it was a suitable homage to the legendary British radio presenter, who died of a heart attack in Peru last October.

Stipe told his audience: "I don't know the words to this, do you know it? But it's for John Peel."
