In Good Company

Director: Paul Weitz

Cast: Dennis Quaid, Topher Grace, Scarlett Johansson, Marg Helgenberger

Cert: 12

Good to see Quaid back on song, in this surprisingly good yarn; surprisingly given that the basic idea doesn't at first seem a strong one.

Quaid plays Dan, an advertising exec on a sports magazine. Sales have hit the skids and the arrival of a brash whizkid (Grace) to gee things up - during which he becomes the department boss - don't help.

It doesn't help either when the whizkid falls for Dan's daughter (Johansson).

What gives the film its strength is the fine development of the characters and, especially, the acting of Quaid. There are also plenty of laughs to be found in a witty, observant script; it's a good yarn!

Star Rating: 4/5
