Irish eyes await Oscar fate

Sunday is the big day for Oscar glory … and the Irish will be there in force.

The hot tip for a wide sweep, The Aviator, was written by John Logan, whose parents come from Belfast.

Hotel Rwanda, up in several categories, was written and directed by another Ulsterman, Terry George, while in the Live Action section there's director Gary McKendry's Everything in This Country Must.

McKendry is from Templepatrick, in Co Antrim, and the film was shot in and around the Co Antrim town.
