What have they done to Ermintrude, Dylan, Dougal? Those of us who found the original TV series charming will never forgive the makers of this mish-mash of a big-screen adaptation.

The story concerns a bad Zeebad attempting to take over the Enchanted Village and the efforts of our best-loved characters to save the situation; and, alas, it simply doesn't work, even with such a star-studded cast lending their weight.

Today's audience might not remember the delightful ease of the original stories but the saddest aspect of this film is that it contains little that will draw a new audience to the characters.

What we have been given is a film lacking in the warm charm and gentle fun of those faraway days, characters lacking in true personality and a naff plotline.
